Our Collision Repair Process

Most people think collision repair is simple.

Drop your car off… wait a few days… pick it up.

But what actually happens in between is the difference between a car that looks fixed and a car that is truly safe again.

Let’s walk through the real process.

1. Check In and Vehicle Intake

The moment your car arrives, we log everything.

VIN, paint code, make, model, year, visible damage… all of it gets documented across multiple systems so nothing is missed.

This is also where we perform a pre scan of your vehicle’s diagnostic systems. Modern cars are packed with sensors, and damage is not always visible on the surface.

2. Pre Wash

Before anything else, we clean the vehicle.

Not for looks… for accuracy.

A clean car allows us to see every scratch, dent, and impact point so we can properly assess the damage.

3. Disassembly

We don’t guess, we verify.

Damaged areas are carefully disassembled to understand how far the impact traveled through the vehicle.

Combined with diagnostic data, this gives us a full picture of what actually needs repair.

4. Repair Planning

This is where most shops cut corners… we don’t.

We pull OEM repair procedures directly from the manufacturer and build a repair plan based on how the vehicle was engineered to be fixed.

Not based on speed… not based on insurance pressure… based on correctness.

5. Body Work

This is the physical repair.

Structural work, metal work, panel repair… everything required to restore the integrity of the vehicle.

6. Paint and Refinishing

Refinishing is more than just making it look good.

It is a controlled, precise process that ensures durability, color match, and long term protection.

7. Reassembly

Every component goes back exactly where it belongs.

No shortcuts, no missing steps.

8. Calibration and Post Scan

Modern vehicles rely on sensors for safety systems like lane assist, braking, and collision detection.

After repairs, these systems must be recalibrated and verified.

If this step is skipped… your car may not protect you the way it should.

9. Quality Control

We don’t check it once, we check it twice.

In shop inspection… then a final inspection before delivery.

Everything is verified before it leaves our hands.

10. Final Detail and Delivery

Your car is cleaned, reviewed, and delivered back to you… the right way. Not rushed, not guessed… done correctly.

Here’s the Reality Most People Don’t Hear

There’s a huge push in the industry toward speed. Faster cycle times… quicker turnarounds… more cars in, more cars out.

But here’s the truth…

Speed should be a result of efficiency, not the goal. Because when speed becomes the goal, something always gets sacrificed. And in collision repair… that “something” is usually safety.

What Matters More, Fast or Correct?

If you had to choose…

Would you want your car back faster…
Or would you want it repaired the way it was engineered to protect you?

That’s the conversation most shops avoid.

We don’t.

Because at Best Body Shop, we believe your car should leave safer than when it came in.
