Good morning boys and girls! It's 7 a.m. and I'm running a little bit late...
Listen guys! I want to discuss something with you really quick. I have something that I'm hoping can help you. Let me me remind you the purpose for Facebook with me is very simple. It's documenting the entire process of building a business. It's also a great area where you can learn from my mistakes and successes. We all know that failure is the only way to success. You cannot succeed without failing. We are not going to know what failure looks like without criticism. You have to have people around you to tell you that you are making mistakes.
In 2018, the temptation of calling criticism "HATE" is HUGE! Everyone is talking about the haters. Listen guys, here's the truth; you can learn off of criticism and become a better person. You can even learn off of hate. So, with that being said, you cannot take every piece of criticism seriously. So how do you know what to take in as a serious criticism that you can learn off of and what can you throw out as just hate?
I've got a hack for you... But, before I tell you that, I want to make you a promise. If you decide to go after something that is bigger than yourself, I can guarantee you will get a massive amount of criticism! Remember, everyone will have criticism..
Back to the hack...
#1). If the person that is bringing criticism to you has NOTHING to do with your specific industry like a family member or a friend; listen to the criticism.
#2). Pay attention to your heart-to-heart. 9 times out of 10, you know deep down inside whether or not to pay attention to that criticism or not. Don't try to lie to yourself and pass it off as just "hate". Take advantage of the opportunity to become better!
#3). Ask yourself a simple question; Would you trade places with the person who is giving you the criticism? There are certain people in my life right now that when they call me and give me criticism, I'm all ears. They have things figured out in their lives and have certain things that I don't have yet. I know I would be a better person if I did have some of those things. There are also people out there that have massive amounts of criticism for me that I would NEVER trade places with. Their life is in shambles and I would never want to live that way.
Listen, I am not saying just go judge every person that judges you. I'm just saying sometimes in the midst of going after something there will be a fury of criticism where you might get upside-down with it.
At the end of the day, don't call everything HATE. Look at the person bringing the criticism and figure out whether or not it is worth your time. Learn from it!
